Gentle January 2018: Day 17

I enjoy

the orderliness of beautiful markets

jumping for joy

finding heart shaped rocks

pink, ruffly peonies

live music

the changing phases of the moon in the night sky

the pop of red metal chairs, arranged to watch
a sunset over the Olympic Mountains

listening to cats purr

the moment when the sun breaks through the clouds.

Gentle January 2018: Day 14

Lunch with the girls
in a fabulous hole in the wall
in Todos Santos.

Damiata Margaritas

and a scrumptious feast.
Each of us got a different "special of the day"
and shared bites.

The chef was so happy with us
we got dessert on the house.

The owner was an effusive hugger.
I think he does that to all the ladies.

Gentle January 2018: Day 13

I want

to hear the roar of the sea
and experience the quiet bliss of having
my lover's arms encircle me
as we stand against the wind.

I want to fall in love for the last time
in my life.

Gentle January 2018: Day 11

I miss. . . .

my Dad.

Parts of him carry on in my sons.

his blue eyes
his wicked wit
his progressive politics
his prodigious intellect
his curiosity

but not
his love for baseball
or primitive camping
(though they backpacked with him
in Olympic National Forest).

A fitting motto for him was
"Do justice. Love mercy.
 Walk humbly on the earth."

We should all set
an example like his.
