Finding Peace Amidst Disaster

With all the chaos and devastation
running rampant in the world,
I'm finding it hard to find
that serene and peaceful center
I know is within.

How are you reacting to the occurrence
of disaster after disaster?

The heart aches for these people. I can't understand the why of it. Very hard. Nice piece.

I'm wondering when we will be hit - or who will be next- not in a doomsday way but because it seems the earth is doing some major adjustments and we are unfortunately caught up in it.

Although this is devastating for so many - lives lost, homes and living lost - and perhaps Japan's economy crushed - they may only be among the first - at with so many countries still reeling economically - and the media placing more emphasis on !@##$ Charlie Sheen, we may all turn away from the notion that money = happiness and find other pursuits less ephemeral than chasing the dollar.

Sad, with an incredible feeling of impotence, unable to concentrate and a sense of loss that I wouldn't have imagined ever before about a "natural disaster". Perhaps because there is nothing truly "natural" about seeing the words of Lao Tzu coming alive before my very eyes: "Nothing is softer or more flexible than water, yet nothing can resist it."

I hope for peace, for them much more than for myself.

Very sadly for us humans, it does seem like we are lurching from one natural disaster to the next at the moment. It does call for cooperation, though; and perhaps it will help us set aside our differences and selfish economic agendas. The planet has its own destructive impulses; we don't need to add to them!

I am going small. Taking pleasure in folding the laundry, cooking, painting, the smells of things, the feel of things, the sights around me, and focusing on the hearts of those I love, and my own.
I am LIVING this moment, this day because it is a gift that I have been given and I refuse to waste it when others have lost their gifts.
Off to paint rocks today...A treat ! Big Love to you, Beautiful Meri !

i agree friend - feeling anxious and unsettled - not able to pinpoint it but perhaps this is exactly why - a reaction. i also feel so very humbled, like that teeny grain of sand.

My heart goes out to all the people affected by these disasters. I've stopped complaining about petty things and count my blessings instead. Hug my family.
