Note to Myself #5: Time for Peace

If justice is lacking
or available only to a favored group,
discord and dissent abounds.

As it should.

If one group is born with society-ascribed privileges
and others are born one-down,
strife is rampant.

And if people stay locked in their own perspective,
refuse to acknowledge and learn from
other points of view,
there is a dearth of understanding.

Making society more just,
opening dialogue between opposing groups
(think the reconciliation strategies in
South Africa after apartheid),
increases the well-being of all citizens.

That's how I see it.
